WTS strengthens with customs experts from KPMG

Munich/Hamburg, 06/10/2016 – As of 1 October 2016, WTS gains Kay Masorsky as a new partner in Hamburg, thus further expanding the corporate customs consulting field. The 54-year-old arrived from KPMG and is a leading customs expert in Europe.
Kay Masorsky has over 25 years of professional experience in customs, excise and foreign trade law. At KPMG, he had been head of European customs consulting since 2009 and was a member of the auditing company’s global customs consulting network. Before that, he had been a partner at tax consulting firm Roelfs RP and at Ernst & Young, as well as at Beiersdorf AG in the customs and foreign trade law department. The qualified financial consultant began his career in 1990 at the Hamburg customs authority.

The WTS Customs Advisory Team now comprises Mr Masorsky and four other advisors. Four further customs experts joined WTS’ offices in Munich, Düsseldorf and Hamburg on 1 January 2017. At WTS, Mr Masorsky will further expand customs consulting, promote co-sourcing and business partnering in the customs environment and help clients to optimise customs processes. He will work closely with other WTS service lines – VAT, energy tax and transfer pricing – to establish interdisciplinary concepts.

“It is vital that multinational groups have a customs strategy so that they can get to grips with increasingly complex trade regulations, reduce customs costs and ensure that all behaviour from their worldwide activity complies with regulations. Mr Masorsky has already worked in consulting, for companies and for agencies, and thereby brings a huge range of knowledge in the field of customs. Our clients will certainly benefit from this,” said Fritz Esterer, WTS Chief Executive Officer.

“WTS provides a full-service offering in tax law and deliberately avoids auditing activities. Particularly in the field of customs, where future conflicts will arise as a result of the separation of auditing and consulting services, as requested by the EU, this unique range of services offers real added value for clients. I am very much looking forward to further expanding customs consulting at WTS,” added Mr Masorsky.
